The house, now called Rachael's Dowry Bed and Breakfast, was built by George Warner in 1798. The Inn is shown on the Warner & Hanna's Plan of the City and Environs of Baltimore, Md. 1801. Rachael's Dowry is also linked to the lodging of slaves involved in the Underground Railroad movement and George Washington. Washington sought assistance at the Warner's home after injuring his arm on his travel from Baltimore to Alexandria. A statue of George Washington with his arm in a sling stood in the front yard until 1972.
